Hiking in Kita-Kamakura (北鎌倉)

I went hiking with some friends and co-workers a week or so ago in Kita-Kamakura.  It was so beautiful!  From the quaint train station (I wish I had remembered to take a photo) to the traditional homes and green nature everywhere... it is a current favorite location of mine.

Here are photos from the adventure:

Great weather for hiking and spending time outside.

Beautiful roses

Enkaku-ji Temple (has a gold gate which is spectacular)

Peaceful garden and lake inside the traditional home
Next, we continued hiking up into the hills... there were sooooo many stairs, some of which were quite steep.  We finally reached this point where the final stairway lied.

Statues of Tengu Mountain Goblins before the final stairway

View from the top - we can see all the way back to the shrine.
After a short break admiring the views, we continued up another path trekking into the forest.

Looking down from the path.
View from the top of the mountain we hiked.

We had a break for lunch and rest time.  Then we continued hiking down the other side of the mountain and to a new temple.

Aji-sai beginning to bloom!  (Hydrangea)

Neat cave over a mini-lake (really a pond)
